Kokomo, Indiana

Size: 3,900 sqft. | Completion: August 2016

Vision

Kokomo Community Schools administration had a vision of a completely redesigned space where food services operated at a completely new level that served students and enhanced the learning environment.

A collaboration of Kokomo Community Schools administration, the architect, and Reitano Design Group resulted in a fresh food first concept, the fruits and vegetables are front and center as the students enter the serving space.

Design

Consolidating two outdated dining spaces into one larger serving and dining space allowed for significant advancements to be made. The project included an updated kitchen and prep space, multi-functional serving lines, and completely renovated student dining that was designed to accommodate the growing school corporation.

Impact

The use of multi-functional serving equipment allows for a variety of food to be served in an aesthetically pleasing manner. This attention to detail has led to a 20% (+) increase in student participation in the lunch program.
