Earlham college

Richmond, Indiana

Size: 4,800 sqft. | Completion: January 2017

Vision

As part of its mission to attract a diverse student body, the institution sought to completely re-imagine the food experience in its one on-campus dining facility.

Design

Located in Eastern Indiana, Earlham College is a liberal arts school with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 undergraduate students. RDG knew that creating a diverse experience would mean more than a few updated tables and chairs. RDG focused on creating hubs with open-air community vibes and innovative food options like fire-deck baked pizza and a vegan/vegetarian station.

Impact

The transformation of the servery and adjacent dining commons area has created a hub with an open-air community vibe. The food presentation is centered around a large display-cooking bar and is complimented with a variety of food venues including a fire-deck baked pizza concept, a deli, a fresh food bar, an open-kitchen grill concept, and a vegan/vegetarian station with a wide variety of fresh food options.
